What is an FDE
A Forward Deployed Engineer is an engineer who works inside your environment rather than alongside it. They are not there to assess the problem and report back. They are there to understand it, decide what to do about it, build it, and stay accountable for whether it works.
That means an FDE is expected to do more than execute tickets. They work within your business and technical context, make decisions amid ambiguity, build production systems, and remain accountable for what ships. The measure of success is that the system works - not that the specification was met.
